Cruz Overcomes Odds to Retain at Locking Horns 2

Tampa, Fla - After facing several technical difficulties with their audio and hearing Johnny Walker annoying the UCW Verse with his arrogant voice, Universal Championship Wrestling kept the momentum going through the adversity and finished the show strong and successfully with Locking Horns 2 at the Dallas Bull in Tampa

Sean Scott vs Jake St. Patrick:

The opening of the show started with former tag team partners and champions turned bitter enemies. After being betrayed in their UCW Tag Team Championship rematch, Jake St. Patrick  was looking for revenge on Sean Scott for what he did. St. Patrick would charge at Scott before the bell rang and would utilize his speed and agility, but soon Scott would target St. Patrick’s lower back after hitting him with a back suplex on the apron outside the ring.

After a few corners shots and countering a back suplex attempt, St. Patrick would start to rally and mount an offense with several kicks, including a roundhouse kick. As He went for his signature Bang A Rang, Scott would stop it and hit a full nelson knee strike for a close two count.

St. Patrick would try one more attempt at the Bang A Rang, but Scott would seize the moment and hit the Cash Out for the pinfall.

Jack Maguire vs Tommy Xero:

After being unavailable to go for the UCW Tag Team Championship, Jack Maguire turned his sights on getting his first singles win in UCW. His opponent that had the size and strength advantage was 17-year wrestling veteran Tommy Xero.

As the match commenced, Maguire would utilize his speed and agility, but Xero's power proved to be much harder to stop as they would hit Maguire with a thunderous scoop slam and a spinning side slam, but instead of finishing the match Xero would add more to it as they hit a chokeslam. In the end, one of the member's of the Gulf Coast football team would cause a distraction and set Maguire's sights of a win in success as he rolled up Xero.

Cam Fox vs Xander Maddox:

The Dungeon Kidd was definitely getting under the skin of the Miami Boyz after Baby Keef won the UCW Intergalactic Championship off of Dagan McCarter. To teach him a lesson, Xander Maddox would challenge Fox to a match.

The match would start strong for Maddox, but a slight distraction would then give Fox the advantage. Soon, Maddox would rally and mount a comeback and would eventually counter Fox's signature swinging fisherman neckbreaker.

Keef would then cause a slight distraction only for him to get slapped by Fox. As Fox would go for a rollup pin, Keef would hit a super kick on him and cause a disqualification that would leave Chris Malachite and Puma Johnson asking themselves questions: Why did Baby Keef cause a disqualification and what is with his change in attitude?

*Annihilation (Chungus and Syther) vs Tim Foil and Dagan McCarter (UCW Tag Team Championship):

After finding out Maguire was already in a match, Tim Foil was looking desperately to find a tag team partner for his UCW Tag Team Championship match against Annihilation. In a sign of good will Dagan McCarter, who was coming off of losing the UCW Intergalactic Championship, offered to be his tag team partner.

Foil would not start strong as he would be manhandle by both Chungus and Syther. Eventually, after a failed double chokeslam, he would make a hot tag to McCarter who would try his best to mount a comeback, but it would not be enough as Annihilation would hit the North on McCarter to retain their championship.

Madisyn Maxxwell vs Ellie:

After an intermission, the second half of the show would resume with Madisyn Maxxwell making her way to the ring but after tripping going towards the ring, she would force backstage to restart her music so she would enter in the ring properly.

After finding out Jennacide was sick. Maxxwell would berate her with numerous insults as management revealed her mystery opponent. As the ref started the count, Maxxwell's opponent was eventually revealed as former AEW and WWE NXT wrestler Ellie would make her debut with UCW and beat the count.

Soon Maxxwell would go on a quick offense that would eventually be countered briefly by the Dream Girl, but then Maxwell would take advantage of Ellie's upper body and added a slap for good measure. This would eventually anger Ellie as she mounted a comeback before hitting her signature Dream Drop German Suplex, but as she would go for a running finish, it would backfire as The Headline would finish her with This Just In for the win.

*Baby Keef vs Chris Malachite (UCW Intergalactic Championship):

After an argument backstage following Maddox's DQ loss to Fox, it was becoming abundantly clear that Keef's attitude was effecting the group. In order to teach him a lesson, Chris Malachite decided to challenge him for the UCW Intergalactic Championship.

Before the match began, the fans would encourage Keef and Malachite to hug it out, which they did. As the match commenced, both wrestlers were no stranger to each other's moves as they would match each other in speed and strength.

Keef would have the upper advantage and work on Malachite's head, but Malachite would then mount a comeback and hit a Rolling Stone Moonsault for a close two-count.

As Malachite was going for the Malachite Moment, Cam Fox would interject him and hit Malachite with a superkick before Keef hit a jumping STO for the win to retain the title.

After the match, all four members would celebrate the match until betrayal happened in front of the UCW verse as Keef would hit Malachite from behind with the title belt. Fox would then join Keef in attacking Maddox and Johnson, thus cementing their alliance as Keef would leave the remaining Miami Boyz laying on the ground.

*Logan Cruz vs Steve Sterling (UCW Universal Championship) w/Johnny Walker as Special Guest Referee:

Heading into the main event, UCW Universal Champion Logan Cruz already knew that the odds were against him against Steve Sterling, even with Leeroy Shogun in his corner. Cruz knew that the biggest challenge in his match would be Johnny Walker as the special guest referee.

As the match commenced, Walker had know issue making the fast counts for Sterling and slow counts for Cruz. During the match, Shogun was constantly calling out Walker's bias referring, which would lead Walker to ejecting Shogun from ringside.

Cruz would then mount a comeback after Sterling accidentally hit Walker with a super kick that sent him out of the ring. This would give Shogun to come back to the ring, not as a wrestler, but as a ref.

As Shogun was counting Cruz's pinfall, Walker would prevent him from making the three-count. Eventually, Shogun and Walker would go to blows, which would cause the remaining refs to intervene, which would also see both Cruz and Sterling giving each other a double low blow.

As Cruz would hit The Right Hand of God accidentally on Shogun, he realized all the other refs were not around until a familiar face made her return and that person was senior official Olivia Lyon who came back from vacation 20 minutes ago. As she made the count, it would only be ruled as a two-count.

Sterling would try one more chance to cheat, but n the end Cruz would hit a second Right Hand of God to win the match and retain the UCW Universal Championship.

After the match, Cruz acknowledged mutual respect towards Sterling for continuing to finish the match and not fully take the easy way out.

Last Time Out:

UCW had their last show, Universal Fury 23, at the Desoto Boys and Girls Club in Bradenton. Highlighting the night was Johnny Walker defeating Leeroy Shogun to help pick the stipulation for Steve Sterling and his championship match. Additionally, The Annihilation would retain the UCW Tag Team Championship in a rematch against Sean Scott and Jake St. Patrick while Baby Keef defeated Dagan McCarter to win the UCW Intergalactic Championship and Logan Cruz defeated Jack Maguire to retain the UCW Universal Championship.

Streaks and Reigns End:

Johnny Walker was able to end his losing streak after defeating Shogun. His eight-match losing streak tied with Shayne Stetson for the most straight losses all-time in UCW. In fact, it was Walker’s first win since Universal Fury 4 and his first win since Supernova 2023.

Walker’s streak was not the only one that ended abruptly as Dagan McCarter’s nine-match winning streak came to end along with his UCW Intergalactic Championship as he lost the title to Baby Keef with an unaware assist from Cam Fox. McCarter held the championship for a record-setting nine months, dating back to October 25, 2025 where he defeated Fox at Masters of the Universe.

305 Gaps:

Speaking of Baby Keef and Fox, the one quarter of the Miami Boyz will defend his newly won UCW Intergalactic Championship at the show. Amongst the faction, Keef is the first of the four members to win a singles championship. Additionally, Keef joins a select group of wrestlers that are one championship away (UCW Universal Championship) from becoming a triple crown champion. He joins the following wrestlers attempting a triple crown championship:

Sean Scott (Needs to win the UCW Universal Championship)

Jake St. Patrick (Needs to win the UCW Universal Championship)

Steve Sterling (Needs to win the UCW Intergalactic Championship)

Jake Sterling (Needs to win the UCW Tag Team Championship)

For his first title defense, Keef’s opponent will be a member of his own faction: Chris Malachite. This will be Malachite’s first singles championship opportunity at UCW. In his last match, Malachite defeated James Wolfe at Universal Fury 22. The impromptu match between Keef and Malachite was set up due to Keef’s recent change in attitude that also involved Cam Fox’s interference in the UCW Intergalactic Championship.

Keef and Malachite will not be the only members of the Miami Boyz competing as Xander Maddox will be looking for his first singles win when he faces Fox in singles action to prevent anymore cracks in the Miami Boyz.

Maddie Media Showdown:

As she prepares for her match with a debuting Ellie, Madisyn Maxxwell is looking to earn her second win in the company after making her debut at Bar Brawl against Anastacia in April. In her last match, which was at the first Locking Horns, Maxwell fell in a triple threat match to Jennacide, which also involved Rocky Radley. Prior to Locking Horns, the Headline of Madi Media took home the Ultimate Florida Wrestling (UFW) Women’s Championship against Tiny Tanaily at Run for Glory and will defend her championship on September 5 at UFW’s Anchor in Anclote, Florida in a triple threat match against Tanaily and Kaci Lennox.

Veteran Friends Turned Enemies:

Sean Scott shocked the UCW verse in his UCW Tag Team Championship rematch with Jake St. Patrick against Annihilation. After losing the belts at Universal Fury 23, Scott would do the unthinkable and betray his own partner by hitting St. Patrick with The Cash Out and forgo regaining the tag team championships.

Now that both wrestlers will focus on their singles careers, The Jake of All Trades will be looking for vengeance on the Black Diamond after the betrayal he endured.

Tag Team Throwdown:

Annihilation (Chungus and Scyther) are looking to defend their newly won UCW Tag Team Championship after retaining the belts against Scott and St. Patrick last month.

Tim Foil is looking to end their reign quickly, but with his tag team partner, Jack Maguire, already fighting in singles action against newcomer Munoz he will have to find a new partner for his match.

Fair and Square or High Favortism:

The question in regards to the UCW Universal Championship match between defending UCW Universal Champion Logan Cruz and Steve Sterling has been circulating for a while: Will Johnny Walker call the match down the middle or will he show favoritism to Steve Sterling as the special guest referee?

Walker was named as the special guest referee for the match after defeating Leeroy Shogun in a stipulation match at Universal Fury 23.

Cruz is looking to overcomes the odds of Sterling’s advantage to retain the title after retaining it at Universal Fury 23 against Jack Maguire. In fact, Cruz is 4-0-1 in his last five matches.
