Bradenton, FL - The Gifted (Logan Cruz and Leeroy Shogun) would come out on top in the main event of their feud with Johnny Walker and Steve Sterling at Universal Fury 22 at the Desoto Boys and Girls Club in Bradenton, which was also highlighted by the Annihilation (Chungus and Scyther) winning the UCW Tag Team Championship off of Sean Scott and Jake St. Patrick.
Chris Malachite vs James Wolfe:
The show opened with The Miami Boyz looking to keep their momentum going in singles action as Chris Malachite would take the opportunity to represent the group. His opponent making his return was none other than James Wolfe.
While both started off strong, Malachite’s quickness helped him before a sudden setback in the corner would give Wolfe an edge as he took advantage of Malachite’s upper body.
Malachite would then mount a strong comeback and pull away with the win after hitting Wolfe with a corner springboard moonsault.
Kai Price vs Jack Maguire (w/Tim Foil):
Following his return to UCW at Locking Horns, Kai Price was looking to get back on track for a potential title run. Meanwhile his opponent, Jack Maguire, was looking to go on a roll of his own after earning his first win in UCW at Locking Horns.
Price would attack Maguire’s partner in Tim Foil before the match even started, but as the match commenced, Maguire would get off to a fast start with his speed, but soon Price would invoke his technical skills and stop Maguire’s run.
Foil would then try to help out Maguire, but he would once again get attacked by Price which would anger Maguire as he mounted a comeback. Ultimately, it would not be enough as Price would win after hitting a Final Cut.
Annihilation (Chungus and Scyther) vs *Jake St. Patrick and Sean Scott (UCW Tag Team Championship):
The Annihilation were looking for a rematch and a second chance at the UCW Tag Team Championship. Jake St. Patrick and Sean Scott would have no problem facing them a second time and look to retain their titles.
As the match started, St. Patrick and Scott would start off fast and work their way on Scyther with their veteran awareness. A sudden setback with a backbreaker from Chungus to St. Patrick would put the veterans’ run on halt as the Annihilation would continue to work on St. Patrick’s back.
Eventually, St. Patrick would make a hot tag to Scott and things looked to be back in favor of the veterans. St. Patrick would then make a tag back in and set up a moment of distraction for Scyther to stop Scott as Chungus would hit a thunderous chokebomb on St. Patrick for the pinfall as the Annihilation would become the new UCW Tag Team Champions.
Puma Johnson vs John Strange:
Looking for a second win on the night for the Miami Boyz, Puma Johnson would be the one to represent the team. Johnson would take on newcomer John Strange who was making his UCW debut.
Johnson’s power was key for him to start and while Strange showed some technical prowess of his own and tried to ground the powerhouse of the Miami Boyz, Johnson would not allow him to earn a win as he would hit a powerslam for the win.
*Dagan McCarter vs Jonathan Hudson (UCW Intergalactic Championship):
In the second title match of the night, Dagan McCarter was looking to extend his title run as the longest reigning UCW Intergalactic Champion. McCarter would face another tough opponent as Jonathan Hudson would be the one to face McCarter after earning a shot at the championship at Locking Horns.
In the beginning, Hudson would use his power over McCarter’s speed as he would continue to target his upper body and head. Eventually, McCarter would mount a comeback and prove he would be a fighting champion. As Hudson would go for his signature fisherman’s suplex, McCarter would seize the moment and counter it with a roll up for the win and retain his title.
Johnny Walker and Steve Sterling vs The Gifted (Logan Cruz and Leeroy Shogun):
Heading into the main event, the Gifted were looking to put Johnny Walker and Steve Sterling in their place after Sterling fell to Logan Cruz for the UCW Universal Championship at Locking Horns. Cruz would not waste time as he would call out both Walker and Sterling on how the fans do not like them because of their wrestling abilities, but by their attitudes. This would not sit lightly for Walker and Sterling as they tried to sneak attack Cruz and Shogun that would potentially go in their favor.
As the match commenced, Walker and Sterling would work on Cruz’s upper body and head and constantly prevent him from getting the tag to Shogun. Soon enough, Shogun would get in a hot tag and start to clean house.
In the end, Sterling would leave Walker to hang out to dry as The Gifted would come away with the win after Cruz hit the Right Hand of God on Walker before Shogun finished it by hitting the Lethal Injection.
Stipulation Match Announced:
After the match and another failed post-match attack, Cruz would give Sterling another shot at the UCW Universal Championship. He would then up the ante as he pitched a match where a stipulation would be invoked.
UCW general manager Tatiana Brewer would then confirm that Walker and Shogun would fight in a stipulation match at Universal Fury 23 to determine the match for the UCW Universal Championship.
